NO-HITTER FOR BEVIER

Bevier copy 2_edited.jpg

Haydon Bevier posted a 1.13 ERA in 2026. He was 18-5 for his career with a 2.57 ERA.

believed to be 1st no-no for Orioles since 2022

Haydon Bevier hurled a no-hitter -- believed to be the first by a Rocky Grove pitcher since 2022 -- in the Orioles' 7-0 conquest of Lakeview on May 11.

Bevier struck out 13 and walked three in his masterpiece and was backed by a three-run homer by Landon Jones.

The no-hitter is thought to be first by a Grove pitcher since Eli Moreland's five-inning gem against Iroquois on April 14, 2022.

Five days later Franklin's Zach Boland and Matt Wimer threw a no-hitter against Seneca. It was another five-inning job.

Later on that season Aaron Burkhardt threw a 1-hitter in the Grove's 11-1 romp over

Eisenhower.

Travis Perry pitched a six-inning no-hitter against Union City in 2018.

Oil City's Jackson Dilks (pictured here) was named to the 2025 All-District 10 and Region 1 first teams in tennis. Oil City's Will McMahon, Franklin's Drew Kockler and Evan Turner and Rocky Grove's Haydon Bevier were recognized for baseball. SOFTBALL

The Franklin and Oil City softball teams might have walked softly this season, but they did carry some big sticks as can be seen in the charts below.

Top hitters and pitchers since 2010. Numbers from Max Preps, but, especially from 2010-2015, some schools didn't post stats, so these may be somewhat sketchy. Still interesting, though.

ABOUT THIS SITE

If you are from Anywhere, USA, and happened to stumble upon this site, Franklin and Oil City are about eight miles apart along Route 8 in Venango County, Pa. -- which is about halfway between Pittsburgh and Erie in the western part of the state.

yardsandpoints.com (formerly venangofootball.com and then route8rivalry.com) covers the grid doings of Oil City and Franklin high schools in Venango County. It also includes the football histories of the two schools, which date back to 1896, along with that of (RIP) Venango Catholic (nee Christian and formerly St. Joseph in Oil City), which dropped the sport in the 1990s. I've recently included more stuff on basketball as well as the doings in other sports.
